“I have never before in my long and eclectic career, been gifted with such an abundance of natural beauty as I experienced when filming ‘War Horse’ on Dartmoor.”
~ Steven Spielberg
The Old National School oozes character, has spacious rooms, an amazing open plan kitchen/dining room, open fires……perfect for a cosy couples get away or for socialising with family or friends. Situated “on the moor”, it isn’t unusual to open the front door to find some of the many sheep and famous Dartmoor ponies immediately outside, looking up at you quizzically to see who is visiting their patch of the moor!
Dartmoor is unrivalled in its opportunities for walking, whether you wish to climb some of the 160 tors, walk the ancient wooded valleys or follow ancient pilgrimage routes. But, it isn’t just about walking, there are an abundance of National Trust properties, adventure activities and if no holiday is complete without a day trip to the beach….the nearest south Devon coastal spots are a scenic 45 minute drive away.
